Dora was deeply moved by the struggles that women in rural Ghana face when it comes to menstrual health. Having learned about the difficulties they endure—from the lack of access to hygienic products to the social stigma surrounding menstruation—Dora felt compelled to take action.
Inspired by the idea of empowering women with better access to menstrual health, she organized a fundraising campaign, mobilizing her community to support the cause. With the funds raised, Dora purchased over 500 menstrual cups—an eco-friendly, sustainable alternative to traditional products—and personally oversaw their delivery to rural areas in Ghana.
But Dora didn’t stop there. Recognizing that similar challenges existed in other parts of the world, she expanded her mission to rural China, specifically targeting the provinces of Guizhou and Jiangxi. In these areas, women also faced difficulties accessing proper menstrual care. Through sheer determination, Dora secured additional funds, organized logistics, and facilitated the delivery of menstrual cups to these regions as well, breaking down barriers and providing women with the tools for better menstrual health.
Dora’s initiative not only provided essential products but also helped challenge the stigma and cultural taboos around menstruation. Her efforts empowered women in both Ghana and China to live with dignity and confidence, while highlighting the global need for accessible, sustainable menstrual health solutions. Dora’s remarkable impact is a testament to the power of young people to create real, meaningful change across the world.
